We have developed a scholarship program which financially supports university students throughout their degrees and forges future career opportunities with Anglo Coal Australia, and the broader Anglo American group.

This scholarship program is a key element of Anglo Coal Australia’s ongoing commitment to increase our workforce diversity and talent pipelines by attracting the right people to key technical roles within our business. These scholarships will enable the successful incumbents to launch their careers with one of the world’s leading mining houses and to establish professional networks with leaders in the mining industry. Our scholarship program will introduce you to our business, the wider mining industry and help you gain the most from your studies through practical experience, guaranteed vacation work and a graduate role upon completion of your studies. 

We are seeking applications from students studying an undergraduate bachelor degree in one of the following disciplines:

•  Mining Engineering

•  Minerals Processing Engineering

•  Chemical Engineering

•  Mechanical Engineering

•  Electrical Engineering

•  Geology

•  Surveying

Eligibility Criteria:

•  Either Australian citizens or permanent residents in Australia

•  Studying a relevant degree (as listed above) at an Australian tertiary institution

•  Not under bond or committed in any way to an employer, or a holder of another scholarship of significant value

•  Wishing to pursue a career in the mining industry

•  Full time, studying a 100% loading according to the universities subject weighting policies

•  Maintaining a GPA of a credit or above with tertiary results

Each tertiary scholarship will provide you with $12,500 per annum (dependant upon meeting the requirements of the scholarship program), for the course of your degree (maximum 4 years) plus a guaranteed vacation placement with Anglo Coal Australia.  We aim to provide you with as many vacation sessions with Anglo Coal Australia as possible to allow you to experience a variety of our operations. Recipients of an Anglo Coal Australia Scholarship will be required to work as an Anglo Coal Australia Graduate for a minimum of 12 months upon completion of their studies.
